Camiguin Summer Getaway

May 2, 2013

Finally! After weeks and weeks of being idle, I am now able to blog and share to you guys my 2-day Camiguin getaway. Last April 19-21, I, together with my workmates, went to Camiguin to have fun under the sun (and rain). Haha! Seriously, it was a perfect escape from the city and we were able to relax without worrying anything about work. *wink*

We actually had to travel for about 12 hours from Cebu City to Camiguin via Super Shuttle Ferry, and yeah it was quite long, however, worth it! :D  Early in the morning, right after we landed our feet in the beautiful island we started our tour. Camiguin is such an amazing place! Clean and green, free from pollution, and very friendly. :) Oh, I can still remember how fresh the air was!

Our first stop was the Katibawasan Falls. Excuse us for the faces! Mga bagong gising lang po! Haha. But, mind me these faces were changed the moment we dived in the water. It was very cold yet refreshing. :D Then, we went to Walkway to the Old Volcano and Stations of the Cross in a mountain where we successfully completed the 15 stations despite of the rain. Quite an achievement, right? Tehehe!

Here's the Santo NiƱo Cold Spring, the name was definitely true guys! Another cold swimming time for us. We also had our super yum lunch here. Ohlala for the fresh buko juice! Thumbs up. :D

We were able to visit also the, The Old Catarman Church Ruins. The historical church of the town Old Catarman that was destroyed and partly submerged by volcanic debris during the eruption and formation of Mt. Vulcan from 1871 to 1875. This is also known as Gui-ob Church which only the ruins of the church and bell tower remains in the old town. (I did a research for this! :D)

Above is the huge cross of the Sunken Cemetery erected in 1982. The cemetery of the town was sunk to below sea level during the volcanic birth of Mt. Vulcan. We actually failed to go on that cross because of the big waves since it rained already that afternoon. :(

Aside from cold springs, the Ardent Hot Spring of Camiguin is also known wherein this was our last stop for Saturday tour and this is where we lasted longer. Haha! You might have the idea why. :D It is located at the foot of Hibok-Hibok Volcano. I love the water and it was very relaxing. We joined the bunch of people enjoying the warm water.  So perfect for that rainy afternoon!

Our single activity by Sunday was pampering ourselves in one of the Camiguin's attractions also, the White Island. It is 2kms off the coast of Agoho, Mambajao and a popular sand bar. It is known with the picturesque Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Old Volcano as a backdrop. Indeed, very ideal for swimming and snorkeling. I'm inlove how fine the white sand is and how amazing the view around the small island. It would be perfect to witness the sunrise and the sunset in Camiguin. Romantic for dates lovelies! <3

As a first timer in Camiguin, I must say it's worth the money and time. A beautiful place together with these amazing and fun people around is a perfect summer getaway! :)

How about you guys? Is your summer good so far? Hope it is good as mine. Enjoy!
